November

October was a busy month for the M.O.T.F. M/C and it flew by. We started it with participation in the Omaha toy run. Kind of a letdown this year as not many folks were there and the amount of toys barely covered the sheet the Red Cross had laid out for us. Can’t control it all I guess. It was nice to see old friends we hadn’t seen for awhile and to meet new ones as well.

As always we showed up at The Lube on Wednesday’s for their “bike nite”. We always get to see folks as well as get the chance to minister to anyone who needs it. Earlier this year we did a bike blessing there for  guy who had his handicapped son with him in the sidecar.

The biggest thing for us this month was “Weav’s Memorial Run”. It took place on the 19th and we were very happy by the turn out. We had really prayed about this and God again supplied everything we needed for a great day. The weather was perfect for a ride and cookout. Absolutely could not have asked for a better day. About 50 bikes took part in the run which went down through Glenwood and then over to Pacific Junction and up the back roads. This was one of Weav’s favorite rides in case you didn’t know. After we returned we had all the chili and dogs a person could want and there was a ton of desserts as well. A special thanks to Mark and his people at Rebel’s for the hospitality and for helping with all the behind the scene things that went on. Especially for Mark who was very busy. Something about getting married the day before the run (Blessings to you and your new bride) as well as his birthday a day later. If anyone had an excuse to not be there, it was Mark, but he was there with his old shovelhead. We all went to the church service at Rebel’s (11:00 every Sunday) before the run and were encouraged by Mark’s message. As an FYI, this is one of the only biker churches in the area and these people will make you feel welcome. They are at 6th street and 16th avenue in Council Bluffs . If you want to check out a church with no prejudices, and one that will welcome you when you are in leather, Rebel’s is one to try out. We had a band play their very first public performance and you sure could not tell it. They were very polished, had no mistakes and sounded great! It was really nice to see Joey and Becky, Weav’s son and Daughter –in-law as well as his Sis and her husband show up for the festivities. Sis brought one of his old shirts and cut it into pieces so everyone on the run could take a part of Weav with them for another ride. The high light (or low light depending on how you looked at it) was Clem getting patched in. He did an absolutely horrible job at singing, with actions, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, but was fun to watch. Congrats!

Check out our events page as things will be going on all the time. We will be having a Christmas party sometime in the near future, so watch for that date and location. We also changed our Bible study night to Wednesday’s. We are currently in the book of John, the 4th chapter, and just finished up with the woman at the well. Join us at Denny’ on 84th just north of the interstate in Omaha if you can.

As always, God has things in store for us. We don’t know what these things are, but he is working within each of us as well as our club and the motorcycle scene in all of our area. Keep us in your prayers so we can be receptive to him, see what he has for us, and to understand his will. Also, pray for our safety as we ride for the rest of the year, and go to other clubs functions.

From the Chaplin

November, a time of Thanksgiving.  What does that mean to us, or what should it mean?  To me it conjures up thoughts of turkey and dressing, and all the trimmings.   A time where the family comes together and we all stuff ourselves silly, then spend the rest of the day napping, and watching football, or playing some sort of game, or just enjoying each others company.

Here's what  Wikipedia has to say;

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, at the end of the harvest season, is an annual American Federal holiday to express thanks for one's material and spiritual possessions. The period from Thanksgiving Day to New Years Day often is called the holiday season. Most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast.

Thanksgiving generally is considered secular, or at least nonsectarian, and is not based on any specific religious canon or dogma. Though the holiday's origins can be traced to harvest festivals that have been celebrated in many cultures since ancient times, the American holiday has religious undertones related to the deliverance of the English settlers after the brutal winter at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

I think that for most everyone, it is a time to reflect on the blessings that God have given us, and to "give thanks" for them.  It should be a daily event, not just once a year as He blesses us each and everyday.  We have so much to be thankful for.  Just look at the headlines to see what is going on in the world and you can hear his footsteps.  How good America has had it for as long as our founders dedicated this county to GOD!

With the elections over we must put our faith in Him even more  as there will  certainly be  changes  But, in all things, give thanks. God is in control.  Here are some things we can be sure of no matter what.

1.   The Bible will still have all the answers.

2.   Prayer will still work.

3.   The Holy Spirit will still move.

4.   God will still inhabit the praises of His people.

5.   There will still be God-anointed preaching.

6.   There will still be singing of praise to God.

7.   God will still pour out blessings upon His people.

8.   There will still be room at the Cross.

9.   Jesus will still love you.

10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him.
